Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Development Engineer to support the delivery of a portfolio of projects within our Cyber Delivery Programme as part of the RIIO-T3 investment plan.
The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams through the project development lifecycle, ensuring projects are effectively established, governed and developed to a stage where they can be delivered safely, efficiently and in compliance with business requirements.
This role plays a key part in undertaking engineering development activities, optioneering, stakeholder engagement and governance to ensure projects are fit for purpose, represent value for money and support delivery of our regulatory, customer and stakeholder commitments.
Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams through project inception and development activities.
- Establish and manage appropriate project governance in accordance with company procedures and standards.
- Support programme mobilisation, project setup and development activities required under NDP500.
- Undertake engineering optioneering and solution development to identify the most efficient and effective delivery solutions.
- Ensure technical, operational, safety and regulatory requirements are considered throughout project development.
- Coordinate engineering inputs from internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain project scopes, requirements, assumptions and delivery strategies.
- Facilitate robust decision-making through preparation of business cases, engineering studies and options assessments.
- Drive projects through relevant stage gates and governance approvals.
- Ensure compliance with applicable business processes, including BP500 and associated governance procedures.
- Identify project risks, constraints and opportunities during development phases.
- Support the transition of projects into execution and delivery teams.
- Engage with programme, operational, asset management and regulatory stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of RIIO-T3 commitments.
Requirements
- Experience leading engineering or project development activities within a regulated infrastructure environment.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of project development, feasibility, optioneering and engineering assurance processes.
- Experience working within major infrastructure, utilities, transmission or energy programmes.
- Knowledge of engineering governance and project lifecycle management.
- Experience producing business cases, engineering studies and development documentation.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to balance technical, commercial, operational and regulatory requirements.
Location
Home based, with the option of working from client offices as per project requirements. Must be willing to travel anywhere throughout the UK.
Working Hours
Ideally full time but may consider part time staff positions.
